About Borries

Company Profile

At Borries Markier-Systeme GmbH, we have been developing and manufacturing marking systems and tools since 1952 for the direct, material-displacing, tamper-proof, traceable and permanent marking of components and industrial workpieces. We manufacture both standard machines and special marking systems. Our headquarters are in Pliezhausen, Germany. Our company is certified to the international standards ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 (quality and environment), which ensures the consistent application of international quality and environmental standards.

Our in-house design, manufacturing and production facilities plan and manufacture standard and customised machines using conventional marking technology, scribe-needle marking technology, type wheel marking technology and laser marking technology.

The extensive product portfolio therefore includes stamping machines, marking tools and marking units designed as workshop or benchtop equipment for workshop use. It also encompasses scribe or needle marking units as add-on modules, OEM laser units, and even bespoke marking systems for larger industrial companies. These products are used by customers in the automotive industry, including e-mobility, the rail industry, the steel industry and foundries, mechanical engineering, medical technology, the defence industry, the construction sector, and the aerospace industry.

The team at Borries Markier-Systeme GmbH operates globally, with subsidiaries in the USA and Namibia, as well as representatives in Asia, South Africa, South America, Eastern and Southern Europe. This ensures a global service and distribution network for marking systems.

What do customers use marking machines from Borries Markier-Systeme GmbH for?

Customers use our marking systems when they require permanent markings that can be read by both humans and machines. They use the machines from Borries Markier-Systeme GmbH worldwide in production lines, manufacturing cells, semi- and fully-automated processes, or at manual workstations. They are used to generate serial numbers, DataMatrix codes, barcodes, 2D codes, alphanumeric characters and logos.

How does the enquiry process work with us?

Customer enquiries are handled on a case-by-case basis by our sales staff or agents. When jointly defining the marking project, the focus is on the marking requirements, integration into the production process, and the company-specific and technical conditions. During this phase, sample parts are often sent to Borries Markier-Systeme GmbH. Marking tests are carried out on the sample parts under real-world conditions and evaluated. When preparing a quotation, sales staff also document the entire product lifecycle of the application to be marked. In doing so, they take into account the production stages the component goes through (such as painting). On the other hand, there are the requirements that the marking process and the markings themselves must meet, even beyond the manufacturing process. The sales team also highlights potential future developments, such as additional data integrations or the use of robotics. The offer is based on cost-effective marking technology tailored to the customer’s requirements. Our in-house design team is involved in the quotation process, particularly for special-purpose machines. It covers the areas of software development, mechanical engineering and electrical engineering. On-site manufacturing and production work in close collaboration with the design department. The technical support team is also available to carry out commissioning and training on site at the customer’s site. In the after-sales department, customer service handles repairs, modifications, overhauls, maintenance and retrofit projects – including for products from other manufacturers. Customer Services keeps track of the machines and equipment sold. This means that staff provide expert advice on updates or retrofits to ensure the machines remain fit for the future, fully functional and reliable.

Our team at Borries Markier-Systeme GmbH works together from our base in Pliezhausen. The team covers the areas of sales, purchasing, design, production, manufacturing, administration and dispatch. Operating within a flat organisational structure enables our team to work together quickly, flexibly, cost-effectively and with a focus on the customer. Our expertise is based on over 70 years of experience in marking technologies. Keeping a close eye on trends such as digital traceability, Industry 4.0, automation and artificial intelligence ensures the company’s long-term viability. This means we are still able to build precise, reliable and customized marking systems for our customers.
