BORRIES Marking-Systems honoured for its role as an agent of progress

BORRIES makes it into the ranks of Germany's most innovative SMEs and is congratulated by Ranga Yogeshwar.

BORRIES does not have many competitors as it operates in a niche engineering sector. “Consequently our climate of innovation is characterised by bold decisions and the willingness to take risks. We take on jobs that others are unable or unwilling to do,” says CEO Lothar von Arnim. Marking a product enables information about the manufacturer or any subsequent processes to be easily traced. This is particularly important for medical equipment, where safety and reliability are paramount. “There is still a lot of untapped potential for us in this area,” says general manager Hartmut Gelner.

The results of the Top 100 analysis bear this out, as the company scored highly in the Climate of Innovation category. Almost two thirds of revenue and profit are earned from innovative improvements. “So it's no surprise that many of today's products and applications didn't even exist ten years ago,” says von Arnim.

The Top 100 award is based on academic research on the firm conducted by Professor Nikolaus Franke and his team from the Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the Vienna University of Economics and Business.
